The H2S Safety course is intended for personnel working in an environment that could become contaminated by H2S gas.

Training on the subject of Hydrogen Sulfide, is essential for all oil and gas workers who could be exposed to H2S during the course of their work activities.

This training helps fulfill the training requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, ANSI Z390.1, Accepted Practices for Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Training Programs, and other regulatory standards.

The H2S course consists of theory and practical on SCBA sets, ELSA (escape) sets and Cascade Breathing System. During the course participants will be able to recognize and accept the hazards associated with Hydrogen Sulphide and it’s effect on humans and to appreciate the value of H2S gas monitoring equipment and be able to identify and use an escape set for the purpose of evacuation.

H2S, or hydrogen sulfide, is a colorless gas known for its characteristic rotten egg smell at low concentrations. It is a highly toxic, flammable, and corrosive compound that can be both naturally occurring and produced by human activities.

  • Flammability: Flammable and can form explosive mixtures with air
  • Occurrence:
  • ~ Natural: Volcanoes, geothermal vents, wetlands, salt marshes, and estuaries
  • ~ Industrial: Petroleum and natural gas drilling, wastewater treatment, and other industrial processes
  • Other Names: Sewer gas, stink damp, swamp gas, and manure gas 
Health Effects:
Exposure to hydrogen sulfide can cause a range of health effects, from mild irritation to severe illness and death, depending on the concentration and duration of exposure. Exposure can affect the respiratory system, neurological system, and cardiac tissues. 

Low concentrations: Eye and respiratory irritation, headaches

High concentrations: Loss of consciousness, respiratory arrest, and death 

Safety Precautions:

Due to its toxicity, H2S is a serious hazard in industrial environments. 

  • Detection:
    H2S can be detected by specialized gas sensors and also by the human nose at low concentrations. 
      • Confined spaces:

        H2S can accumulate in low-lying and enclosed spaces, making work in these areas particularly dangerous.

    • Ventilation:
      Proper ventilation is crucial in areas where H2S may be present.

    (14) Connecting to a pressurised cascade breathing system with an activated
    EBA which has been donned correctly
    (15) Disconnecting from a pressurised cascade breathing system with an activated

    Global Offshore training center bahut badiya hai . ashok sir bahut help karte hai . mene ashok sir se joining liya tha 2 sal pehle abhi mere ko malta me joining kara diya hai . 14 month bad mere ko india se malta bhej diya hai abhi mera salary 1.10 lack hai india me mera salary 14000 tha . 60000 joining ka liya . malta europe mere ko free me bhej diya
